SEPTEMBER 2022:

Friday, September 16: THE DOUG WICKEN QUINTET will appear at The Jazz Room in the Huether Hotel in Waterloo, to coincide with my 80th birthday, and 60+ wonderful years of playing this glorious music called jazz. I’ll be performing on double bass and flute (not simultaneously, of course) with a stellar lineup of area musicians: Ken Hadley (alto sax & flute), Ralph Hetke (piano), Tyler Wagler (double bass), and Mike Rajna (drums). We’ll be performing a blend of jazz classics by the mainstream giants (Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wayne Shorter) as well as original compositions. I will be paying homage to the jazz musicians I have worked with over the years who have contributed to the local scene, and who shouldn’t be forgotten.
